WHAT ARE THE GLOBAL GOALS?
At the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 25, 2015, 193 world leaders committed to 17 Global Goals to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and fix climate change in the next 15 years. The Global Goals for sustainable development are designed to get these things done, in all countries, for all people.
WHY THIS MATTERS?
The 17 goals reflect the next chapter for global development and will set a framework for the world to unite around through 2030. We can be the first generation to end extreme poverty, the most determined generation in history to end injustice and inequality and the last generation to be threatened by climate change.
HOW YOU CAN HELP?
Spread the word! If the goals are going to work, everyone needs to know about them. If the goals are famous, they won’t be forgotten. #GlobalGoals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a new, universal set of goals, targets and indicators that UN member states will be expected to use to frame their agendas and political policies over the next 15 years. The SDGs follow and expand on the millennium development goals (MDGs), which were agreed by governments in 2001 and expired in 2015.
